    Genoa Furling

The 112% genoa furling line stays out of view by running under the deck, exiting at the electric winch in the cockpit by the helm. The optional electric furler is completely free of lines, and is controlled by two foot buttons located port and starboard at the helm for effortless furling from either side of the boat.

  • Genoa Halyard small

    Genoa Halyard

Because of the limited use of a genoa halyard on a roller furling headsail, the Friendship 40 utilizes an Antal stainless steel track system to eliminate the unnecessary coil of hanging line. On the port side of the mast, the genoa halyard dead-ends on a moveable car that slides up and down the track for halyard tensioning.

  • Mainsail2

    Mainsail

Stored inside the aluminum or optional carbon fiber boom is a fully-battened mainsail, raised and lowered by two electric winches located in the cockpit. The main is sheeted in and out using two push buttons (gray buttons in photo), operated by the helmsman’s feet. There are no lines to foul or clutter the cockpit, and with the tap of a button the mainsail control is quick and accurate. The standard boom also comes with a built-in Sunbrella cover and internal preventer system.

  • anchor small

    Anchor System

The Friendship 40 comes equipped with a custom stainless steel swing-out anchor arm that folds out of the port side foredeck hatch. Remote control operated, the Lewmar windlass drops and raises the anchor while feeding the 60 meters of chain into the chain locker in the starboard forepeak. When anchor is deployed, the foredeck locker closes, leaving only a beautifully polished stainless arm on the bow. Standard salt water wash down system installed for keeping all equipment clean.

    Lazarette

On the spacious aft deck, the 40 has enough volume to accommodate a huge lazarette, extending from the stern all the way to the forward edge of the helm seat. This storage space is ideal for large items such as the grill, life jackets, fender boards, shore power cords, and especially useful for throwing in all dock lines and fenders when leaving the dock. There is a custom made man-sized flush hatch positioned over the lazarette with stainless steel gas spring hold-open devices to allow easy access to all of the stored items.

  • Clutter free Deck

    Clutter-Free Decks

“Unstubbable decks” are a highlight on the Friendship 40. Having no protruding hardware was a design mandate to eliminate stubbed toes and awkward maneuvers while moving about the boat. Flush cleats, lines led below deck, fuel and water fills located under cockpit hatches in addition to the flush foredeck and lazarette hatches all add to the clutter-free environment.

  • cp smaller

    Cockpit

The spacious and ergonomic cockpit is one of the defining features of the Friendship not found anywhere else on boats of this size. Deep settees port and starboard are over six-foot long with custom stainless framed glass access hatches below the cushions for storage. All sail controls all located behind the wheel, with built-in stainless edged storage bins for all lines, keeping the space clutter-free. This outdoor living area is the perfect space for lounging and entertaining, and as comfortable sailing with one as it is with ten people.

  • Cockpit Table

The walk-around drop leaf table houses a Garmin 5200 touch-screen GPS, and swing-out Simrad auto pilot control, which can both be tucked away and hidden while not in use. A reversible teak lid covers insulated storage for cold drinks, which can be flipped to display additional drink and wine bottle holders.

  • cockpit tent small

    Cockpit Tent

A custom Sunbrella tent turns the entire cockpit into an outdoor living room. When stopping to anchor for lunch or for shade on a hot day at the dock, two stainless steel spreader bars and a bridle for the main halyard make the tent easy to set up in under five minutes.

  • full boat cover

    Full Boat Cover

Custom Sunbrella cover keeps everything dry on a rainy overnight at anchor or protects the boat when you’re gone for an extended period. Two designs available. Clever engineering for the panels and attachment points make the cover extremely easy to set up.

  • friendship 40 deck shower

    Deck Shower

A flush stainless steel plate on the aft deck opens to reveal a beautiful Italian pull-out shower fixture for a hot/cold mixer tap that is located in the lazarette. The handheld unit has an extra long hose that can also be used as a quick fresh water rinse for the cockpit.

  • Smart Dodger

    Dodger

Designed not only as a wide, efficient spray guard, the Friendship dodger is tall enough to stand under and has flush mounted stainless tracks for the removable side panels to form two weather/sun protected seats forward in the cockpit. Also features an elk-hide covered grab rail and zippered middle window for breeze on hot days. Dodger can easily be folded forward and stored when not needed.

  • Custom Hardware

    Custom Hardware

All hardware on the Friendship yachts is custom designed and engineered. Custom cast stainless steel chocks nestle into the wide teak caprails. Custom designed scuppers and turning blocks are flush mounted leaving no visible fasteners. The base of the mast features a polished stainless collar with integral turning blocks. A focal point of the cockpit is the custom stainless steel ‘constellation’ type classic binnacle. Interior drawer bin pulls are blind fastened and available in two custom designs.

  • Galley

    Galley

Everything you need and nothing more – the galley comes with a large sink and wall mount faucet, huge counter-loading fridge with removable shelving and bottle storage, a drop down trash bin, Keurig one-cup coffee brewer, microwave and optional two-burner propane cook top. With the grill that fits in the flag pole socket, it is everything one needs for a gourmet weekend away.

    Custom Galley Storage

During your Friendship’s build process, do your shopping early so we can custom fit pull-out shelves and lockers for your dishes and glassware. As each yacht is custom built, we craft beautiful holders for any personal items you choose, from San Pellegrino bottles to champagne flutes to knives and spices.

  • Head2

    Head

Opposite the galley is the highly detailed ‘gem’ of a head, with its handsome teak surfaces, integral Corian sink, and silent, odorless electric fresh water flush head. The teak sole is drained around its perimeter for the Grohe shower unit, eliminating the more commonly found, and impossible to clean, teak grate soles. Beautifully detailed and varnished teak frames surround the mirrors on head wall and back of door.

  • Main Cabin

    Main Cabin

With roomy headroom (6’4”), the main cabin has an open, classically styled custom interior, incorporating the elegance and simplicity found throughout the exterior of the boat. The teak joinery is finished with satin varnished, solid raised panels, hull ceilings are clad with classically painted white v-groove, and the option of varnished or white v-groove bulkheads. There are port and starboard 6’2” long settees and a versatile drop leaf table that can accommodate up to six guests. The settees can also be used as additional berths. Forward is a double berth with spacious headroom and storage lockers on each side.

    Hydraulics

Like pieces of fine jewelry, the polished stainless steel vang and backstay on the Friendship are hydraulically operated. A custom panel to the port side of the helmsman contains the controls for each, as well as a manual hydraulic back up system for the mainsheet.

  • foot op bow thruster

    Foot-Operated Bowthruster

The robust tunnel thruster is controlled by two buttons at the helmsman’s feet (red buttons in the photo). Entering and leaving a slip is effortless, and nobody sees how you do it!

  • recessed instruments

    Recessed Instruments

All instruments and control buttons are recessed into bulkheads on the Friendship, making them stylish features instead of plain necessary equipment. “Useable art,” as one writer so eloquently described.

    Drop Board Storage

Another example of how every detail is well thought-out on a Friendship yacht.  On each side of the companionway stairs, varnished teak lockers with hinged tops house the four teak drop boards for quick, easy and quiet storage.  The lockers are lined with felt to keep them silent and protected.
